Waterford's Schwartz signs to play men's soccer at Sacred Heart

Waterford High School senior Aaron Schwartz, The Day's 2013 All-Area Boys' Soccer Player of the Year, signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play for the men's soccer team at Division I Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

Schwartz finished last season with 14 goals and seven assists, helping lift the Lancers to their best regular-season record in program history at 15-1.

He became the third player in program history to earn All-New England honors, named all-state for the second year in a row and All-Eastern Connecticut Conference for the third time. He was honored as Most Valuable Player of the Senior Bowl.

A four-year varsity player, Schwartz finished his career with 39 goals and 14 assists.

Sacred Heart competes in the Northeast Conference.
