As the Charles W. Morgan gears up to sail again in June, the last remaining wooden whaleship will get the big-screen treatment tonight at the Garde Arts Center in New London. It's the premiere of the documentary "The Charles W. Morgan," created by filmmaker Bailey Pryor. The 7 p.m. screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Pryor, along with executive producer Steve Jones, Morgan historian Matthew Stackpole, and Mystic Seaport shipyard director Quentin Snediker. Mystic Seaport has spent five years restoring the Morgan for its 38th voyage, and proceeds from tonight's event will support that voyage. The film "The Charles W. Morgan" will go on to be broadcast on CPTV at 10 p.m. May 12 and then on PBS stations around the United States. Tickets for the Garde screening and discussion are $25 ($30 at the door). VIP tickets are $100 and include a pre-film reception with the filmmakers, and preferred seating in the theater. Call (860) 444-7373 or visit gardearts.org.
