Never forget those who sacrificed all

On May 4, 1945 near the end of World War II a destroyer called the Lucky Luce (DD522) was attacked and sunk in Okinawa by the Japanese Kamikaze. A total of 243 men were lost, 16 officers and 227 sailors.

Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children who lost their loved ones cried that day. There are no more reunions to attend. No more bells to ring as the names of the dead are called out. No more wreath to be put into the water.

The survivors have all passed on or are too old to do anything but remember.

Let their sacrifice not be forgotten. Let all who read this think of all those who served on the Lucky Luce and gave their life for our country.
