Former Speedbowl champion Danny Field passes away

Waterford Speedbowl management announced Thursday multi-time track champion and feature winner Danny Field passed away Wednesday after a battle with cancer. Field, of Deep River, was 56.

Field competed at the Speedbowl for more than three decades enjoying a sport he was extremely passionate about. An accomplished racer, Field won three track championships in the NASCAR Mini Stock division.

"Danny was a racer that many looked up to," Speedbowl owner and promoter Terry Eames said in a statement Thursday. "He was very good at winning races, but, more importantly, he was a gentleman and a family man.''

Field's championship seasons at the Speedbowl came in 2005, 2006 and 2009 and he tallied 28 career victories. The Speedbowl will pay tribute to Field during Saturday's racing program.
