Bridge repairs close Route 163 in Oakdale until October

Montville — Route 163, between the Montville transfer station and the Oakdale post office, closed this week and will remain closed to all traffic until October during a $1.49 million bridge repair project.

The project consists of a replacement bridge over Fox Brook and includes replacement of culverts, new pavement, upgraded metal beam rail and concrete sidewalks in the area, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The project was awarded to Old Colony Construction LLC at a cost of $1,489,922.92 and is scheduled to be completed Nov. 30, according to the state DOT.

Detour signs direct traffic around the work site onto Fellows Road, Old Colchester Road and Chesterfield Road. Pa’s Pizza and the Oakdale post office will be open during construction.
