Weather not expected to stop Morgan's trip to New London
The Morgan is scheduled to leave the Mystic Seaport at 9:15 a.m. Saturday. While rain is expected Saturday, only a “drastic change in the forecasted weather conditions” would delay the trip, the Seaport said Friday afternoon. Any postponement because of weather will be posted at www.mysticseaport.org and www.theday.com.
There will be a brief farewell ceremony in the Seaport Shipyard at 8:45 a.m. with Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, and other dignitaries. The Morgan is scheduled to arrive at City Pier in New London at about 2 p.m. It will remain in New London for about a month before leaving for a tour of New England ports.
Updates will be posted on www.theday.com Saturday. Those who take pictures of the Morgan’s trip to New London can post them on Twitter and Instagram using #38thvoyage. Theday.com will post some of the photos.
