Ali re-opens recruiting search, still considering UConn

UConn suffered a setback in the recruiting department with the news that Prince Ali has re-opened his search.

A 6-foot-3 guard at The Sagemont School in Weston, Fla., Ali announced last night on his Twitter account that he had de-committed from UConn.

He tweeted: “After talking it over with my family I have decided to reopen my recruitment! I still love the UConn and I am still considering UConn!”

Ali, a member of the Class of 2015, gave the Huskies an oral commitment last November.

Sagemont coach Adam Ross told ScoutHoops that Ali wants to evaluate other schools. UConn remains in the running, according to Ross.

“UConn is still certainly in the mix and might even still be the leader,” Ross told ScoutHoops. “He wants to have the freedom to see some other places.”

LSU, Nebraska, UCLA, Washington, Illinois and Vanderbilt all offered Ali a scholarship prior to his commitment to UConn.
