The men and women of VFW Post 2212 and American Legion Post 104, both of Taftville, would like to express our appreciation to all who attended our Memorial Day Ceremony. The ceremony would not be possible without the support of Boy Scout Troop 80, Taftville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Sons of the American Legion. We like to involve organizations from "The Village" to read the names of the 23 men from Taftville who have died in service since World War I. Having multiple readers helps maintain spectator interest, while having individuals become more familiar with a local hero. We would also like to acknowledge the Ponemah Council Knights of Columbus. We have been blessed with good weather for our ceremonies but their offering of the hall provides us with an all-weather capability.
We would like to recognize the Murphy family for their biography of Pvt. Michael Murphy. Their encouragement validates why we continue to honor the "Taftville 23."
