    Montville man shot in the back by home intruders

    Montville — State police said a man was shot in the back late Thursday when he attempted to run from two masked males that forced their way into his home at 202 Maple Ave.

    The unidentified victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at The William W. Backus Hospital, and detectives are investigating.

    According to a press release, someone called Troop E at 11:06 p.m. Thursday to report a shooting at a private home.

    First responders arrived at the scene and found the gunshot victim, who reported that two masked men had entered his home, struck him in the head and forced him into the kitchen area. He said he was shot in the back when he attempted to run out of the house. A female in the home was not injured.

    Troopers searched the area for the suspects and provided information to surrounding police of the incident. The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
