The fifth annual Whalie Awards ceremony, celebrating and honoring the area's fertile local music scene, took place Saturday night in New London's Hygienic Art Park.

The event, which traditionally brings out a region-wide array of musical celebrants as well as an appreciative crowd of civilians, featured an opening red carpet processional as well as a program hosted by founder Sean Murray and a variety of musical performances.
