Conn. fine without GOP representation

Connecticut Magazine seems to have a close relationship with CPTV and even prints its schedule monthly. That's why it surprised me to see an elephant on the May cover and an article bemoaning the lack of Connecticut Republicans in the Congress.

There are very good reasons why Republicans should not be in federal office from Connecticut. One of the first reasons that comes to mind is the animosity of Republicans to public television. They can be relied on to cut funding as much as they can for all things public, whether it be the Post Office, schools, trains, or even PBS. They have also been champions of media consolidation that makes it questionable whether the U.S. has information to support democracy any longer. Net neutrality will likely be history soon and we can only dream of bandwidth capacity as fast as South Korea's. That would take a public effort.

Rs would cut or privatize Social Security, roll back the Affordable Care Act and are hostile to unions. Since Tom Foley is an admirer of Scott Walker it is likely that under his administration public employees would not only bear the burden of any financial shortfall, but could find their pensions and bargaining rights threatened. That is grossly unfair.
