Rising to the occasion in New London

Volunteer carpenters from the New England Regional Council of Carpenters Local 24 erect scaffolding Thursday around the New London Harbor Light on Pequot Avenue in New London. The scaffolding is the first step in a one- to two-month restoration of the 89-foot-tall beacon built in 1801. The New London Maritime Society took ownership of the lighthouse in 2010.
