Mystic man arrested twice within seven hours

Stonington — Police arrested a Mystic man twice within seven hours this weekend after they say he went to his ex-girlfriend’s home on Mayflower Avenue in Pawcatuck and caused disturbances.

Andrew Kawabata, 21, of 152 Long Wharf Road, Mystic, was first charged at 7:58 p.m. Saturday with breach of peace and interfering with a police officer. After he was processed, he was released on bond and warned by police not to return to the house.

At 2:51 a.m. this morning, police were again called to the house and found Kawabata causing another disturbance. He was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, breach of peace and interfering with a police officer.

Editor's note: Court documents show the state dismissed Andrew Kawabata’s charges on May 22, 2015, after he completed a family violence program. He was not convicted of a crime.

He was being held by police this afternoon and was slated to appear in New London Superior Court on Monday.
