Parking policies hurt New London businesses

Once again, city fathers apparently have forgotten about the commercial business in the southern part of the city along Pequot Avenue.

There is now a two-hour limit along Pequot Avenue and including the municipal parking lot. As long ago as 1968 the Municipal parking lot across from Fred's Shanty was designated as parking for six different local businesses and 300-plus boaters who are patrons of the two marinas.

When questioned a local police official sadi, "This is not a police matter." I asked why during these difficult economic times they are making it harder for us to keep doing business, when there is ample empty land available by Fort Trumbull, which could be used for parking for Electric Boat employees. These parking restrictions cause a sever hindrance for our customers who want to go offshore fishing or on long trips on their boats.
