UPDATED: Car flips over during crash in downtown Norwich

Norwich — A two-car accident at the intersection of Water Street and Courthouse Square Friday evening left one vehicle on its roof and closed off Courthouse Square to traffic for one hour, police said.

No injuries were reported among the occupants who were trapped in the vehicle that rolled over, police said. Occupants of the second vehicle were taken to The William W. Backus Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Norwich police, Norwich fire and American Ambulance responded to the accident, which was reported at 7:32 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation, and neither operator was charged Friday. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the investigating officer, Chris Hawrylik, at (860) 886-5561.
