    New London police arrest four, find fake gun after large gathering

    New London - Police said they arrested four men and found a facsimile firearm after responding Friday to a report that a large crowd that had gathered in the area of 195 Colman St. and a man was flashing a gun.

    Several witnesses at the scene told The Day the men had gathered to record a music or YouTube video.

    Police arrived on scene and encountered approximately 15 males whom they detained and searched with assistance from Waterford and Groton City police, according to a press release from Deputy Chief Peter Reichard.

    The male with the gun fled on foot toward the area of Walden and Jefferson avenues and was later apprehended by officers and a K-9, who said they found a fake gun nearby.

    Michael Escobales, 19, of 11 Michael Road, Apt. I, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree criminal trespass and possession of marijuana.

    Isaac Cabanas, 18, of 332 Jefferson Ave. was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics.

    Jesse Beck, 19, of Congdon Road, Voluntown, was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon after police said they found brass knuckles in his car.

    Shakim Curry, 24, of 49 Ridgeview Circle was charged with interfering with an officer.
