Norwich police announce National Night Out to be held Aug. 5

Norwich – The 31st Annual National Night Out event, sponsored by the Norwich Police Department, will take place Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shop Rite Supermarket parking lot, 624 West Main Street, Norwich.

National Night Out provides a chance for the public to interact with police officers who work in their neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces in a non-emergency setting. Officers have received feedback that this interaction has greatly improved the relationship between the police and the citizens of Norwich.

Last year's event was the most successful to date drawing an estimated 3,000 attendees.

The event includes free food and drinks, a live broadcast provided by Jammin' 107.7, give-aways, a dunk tank, numerous demonstrations, and attendance by other emergency providers including the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Department, American Ambulance, and Norwich Emergency Management.
