Greenwich man flees from police, later caught in Norwich

A Greenwich man being sought on a warrant was found sleeping outside a residence in Preston this morning, but escaped from police before being arrested later today in Norwich.

Jose E. Ibarra-castro, 24, was charged with second-degree failure to appear in court and interfering with a police officer. He was held on a $10,000 bond before his arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.

Ibarra-castro was first spotted and questioned about 8 a.m. near a heavily wooded area in Preston off Route 2. While an officer checked on his identity, he fled into the woods next to Jordan Salvage Yard. He later was seen crossing the Eighth Street Bridge in Norwich and was arrested after another brief chase, according to a police report.
