Kitchen fire damages Norwich home
Norwich - Firefighters from the East Great Plain department quickly extinguished a kitchen fire at 26 Will Road this morning.
Deputy Chief Keith Milton said the fire was reported at 9:05 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, there was smoke coming from the windows and front door.
The lone occupant of the house managed to get out safely, he said.
Milton said the fire was under control within 15 minutes. The fire damage was contained to the kitchen, but there is smoke damage throughout the single-story ranch.
In addition to East Great Plain, the Yantic fire department and Mohegan Tribal FAST team also responded.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
