'Black is not a crime' rally to be held today in New London
New London - A rally will be held at 3 p.m. today at Parade Plaza in response to events in Ferguson, Mo., that began with the Aug. 9 police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Organizing the rally are members of various community organizations, including Hearing Youth Voices, New London Parent Advocates, All Souls Unitarian Universalists Congregation New London, the Council on American Islamic Relations in Connecticut and ACLU-CT, among others, according to a press release.
A group of youth participants will gather at 11 a.m. Sunday at 60 Huntington St. to make signs and march to the Parade Plaza at 2:30 p.m.
