Jewett City man sustains serious injuries after driving into two cars
Griswold — A Jewett City man was flown Sunday evening by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after police said he was driving erratically on Route 201, collided with two cars and was ejected from his vehicle when it rolled over several times.
State police said they received a call about a young child who was left unattended at Hopeville Pond. As troopers were responding to the area, they saw a Chevrolet G2500, owned by Metrocast Communications, being driven erratically on Route 201. Police said the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Sean Forrest, was driving the car south in the north lane. Police said Forrest continued to drive the car on Route 201, nearly striking two responding state troopers.
Police said Forrest’s car struck a car driven by Robert Rhoades of Jewett City. Forrest continued driving south on Route 201 when he struck another car, driven by Priti Patel of Jewett City, head-on.
Police said Forrest lost control of his car, which rolled several times. He was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where his condition was not immediately available.
Rhoades and Patel, along with two passengers in Patel’s car, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
The accident, which was reported at 6 p.m., remains under investigation.
