A P-40 Warhawk prepares to taxi past the crowd before taking flight Saturday at the Commemorative Air Force air show at the Midland International Airport in Midland, Texas. The CAF air show is held annually at the airport. The first one was held in 1963, making it one of the oldest air shows in the country. The CAF has 164 aircraft in its fleet. In World War II, P-40s served with the famed Flying Tigers in China, and in North Africa with the 99th Fighter Squadron, the first African-American U.S. fighter unit.
