New Haven (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama is the latest high-profile Democrat to campaign for Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
The president's wife was scheduled to appear Thursday at an afternoon campaign rally in New Haven for Malloy and the Connecticut Democrats. Her husband, President Barack Obama, was scheduled to headline another rally on Sunday afternoon in Bridgeport.
Democrats are working to encourage their base to come out and vote in this year's tight gubernatorial election. A Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday, show Malloy and his Republican challenger, Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, remain in a dead heat.
Before her appearance in New Haven, the first lady was scheduled to appear at a get-out-the-vote event in Rhode Island to support Gina Raimondo, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
