MAKE A DIFFERENCE
WHO: Amy, a single parent of two children ages 13 and 7.
AGENCY: Stonington Human Services
HIS SITUATION: Amy was diagnosed with leukemia and hasn't been able to work since. She has a major surgical procedure scheduled for early 2016, but recovery will take a significant amount of time and energy, and Amy will not be able to work in the interim. She spends money on trips back and forth between Pawcatuck and Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical appointments.
WHAT TO GIVE: As part of her recovery, the family would like to purchase a new queen-size bed and bedding as well as a reclining chair and or couch. Gift cards for fuel and food would offset their expenses, as well as donations toward their rent and household utility bills.
