North Stonington Garden Club awards scholarship to Wheeler student
North Stonington — The town's garden club awarded the 2016 Anna Coit Memorial Scholarship to graduate Henry Smith at its July 19 meeting at the senior center.
Smith's service project for the National Honor Society was to develop a vegetable garden for the senior center. He was awarded $1,500.
He plans on studying civil and environmental engineering at the University of Connecticut, where he hopes to develop sustainable shelters and work to benefit both the community and the environment, according to the garden club.
