New London — Residents are invited to an announcement at 10 a.m. Tuesday about a new initiative that will help homeowners with financing to install solar panels.

Through the Connecticut Solar for All Program, property owners will be able to take advantage of low-interest loans to acquire solar panels through lease agreements and make energy efficiency upgrades to their homes. The program is being financed through a public-private partnership between PosiGen Solar Solutions and the Connecticut Green Bank, according to an announcement from the bank.

PosiGen, a New Orleans-based private solar energy company, has launched similar programs in Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport, Becca Brockway, spokeswoman for McDowell Jewett Communications, which handles communications for the Connecticut Green Bank, said Monday. PosiGen has an office in Bridgeport.

Connecticut Green Bank, created by the state legislature in 2011, makes financing available for clean energy projects by leveraging public and private funds and fostering private investment, according to the bank’s website. Its goal is to make clean energy more affordable.

Speaking at the program will be Mayor Michael Passero, state Sen. Paul Formica, R-20th District, and Kerry O’Neill, director of residential programs at the Connecticut Green Bank, and Thomas Neyhart, chief executive officer of PosiGen Solar Solutions.

The announcement will take place in Council Chambers at City Hall.
