I saw with amusement the Sunday Cartoon ( October 8 ) depicting Manny Rivera jumping from the frying pan of the superintendent of New London schools into the fire of New London politics, while holding his nose. I would suggest that the people who were holding their noses are all the other school board candidates when he announced his candidacy.

In his brief and incomplete employment contract as superintendent, he managed to increase the cost of the administration and evidently improve the quality of the sandwiches in the school lunch rooms. After that effort he decided to quit and renege on his contract obligation. He now has the chutzpah to run for the Board of Education and jump into the fires of New London politics.

Hopefully, he gets roasted.
