“Scratching the surface,” a show exploring the theme of texture, both tactile and illusory, is currently on display at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly.

The show will, in particular, focus on the works of calligraphy artist Jane Parillo Rollins and 3D woodworker and furniture designer/maker Clarence Spangler, along with a handful of other ACGOW artists. In total, over a hundred pieces are featured throughout the show.

Rollins, who has been practicing calligraphic art forms since first taking a class in the medium in the ’80s, will showcase her abstract calligraphy prints. Spangler, who too, has been working in his artistic medium of woodworking for the last 30 years, will display several of his inlaid fine furniture.

The show run until April 1 and is free and open to the public. Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wed.-Sat. and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.; (401) 596-2221, www.westerlyarts.com.
