On gun control, grandma is silent no more

I was born in 1938 a part of the Silent Generation. I don’t agree with the idea, but a feel my silence has contributed to this nation choosing to have assault weapons available to the general population. Massacre after massacre I have been silent. I don’t email, Facebook or Twitter. I am trying to reach out to other silent grandmothers. I am asking them to join me in supporting our grandkid’s efforts to limit assault weapons to military and law enforcement uses. Please contact your legislators and ask them to take these kinds of weapons off our streets. If you agree with this effort please share this idea with other grandmothers.

I am aware assault weapons are a place to start, then let’s get our heads and hearts together, remembering all those lost lives and figure out how to care about every child that’s born. I think we are headed in the wrong direction. I don’t believe bad guys with guns and good guys with guns is going to be a solution for creating safety. That sounds more like a gun fight.

Consider me a grandmother with hope.

Ms. Hinton included a note with her letter: “I am sending one letter to each State in the Union. I appreciate any help you can give me with this effort. I had to try something.”
