New London — Luke Leonard had a two-out, two-run single to highlight a four-run third inning and East Lyme High School went on to beat New London 8-4 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I baseball game Tuesday.

That gave the Vikings (4-2, 2-0) and winning pitcher Dan Allard a 6-0 lead. Chris Malcom had a single, double and two walks for East Lyme and Trystan Levesque and Joey Grubb also had two hits each. The Vikings added two runs in the fourth on a two-run double by Jacob Diaz to make the lead 8-1.

New London scored one in the third and three in the fourth, getting an RBI double by Aidan Brennan and a two-run single by Zane Mikula. Brennan had two of four hits for New London (3-3, 0-2).

In other games:

• Norwich Free Academy built an early 4-0 lead and held on to defeat Fitch 7-5 in an ECC Division I game. It was the first win of the season for the Wildcats (1-4, 1-1). Vincent Gualtieri had two hits for NFA, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs, while Jordan Lake added two hits and Kevin Pomroy drove in a pair of runs. Tyler Nelli went 4-for-4 with two RBI for Fitch (5-2, 0-1) and Tyler Cady added a triple.

• Stonington's Kevin Ferrer had two hits and drove in the Bears' only run during a 2-1 loss to Bacon Academy in an ECC Division II game. Stonington is 3-2, 1-1. Brian Scheidel had a two-run single for Bacon and Jamie Violette pitched a six-hitter.

• Ledyard fell into a 5-0 hole and never recovered, losing to Griswold 5-2. Max Ebdon had two of Ledyard's four hits and Ethan Jarry and James Laconico had the others. The Colonels are 2-3.

H.S. boys' tennis

• Old Lyme won four of five singles matches, three by forfeit, in a 6-1 victory over Westbrook in the Shoreline Conference. Connor Wyman won his No. 2 singles match in straight sets. The Wildcats (3-1, 3-1) received straight set doubles wins from the duos of Quinn Hartmann-Nick Fava and Jackson Cowell-Pat Dagher.

• Nate McCracken, Brandon Donovan, Will Reynolds and Nick DeAndrea won their singles matches without dropping a game in Ledyard's 4-0 shutout of Norwich Free Academy in ECC Division I. No doubles matches were played. The Colonels are 4-1, 2-1, and Wildcats 0-5, 0-3.

H.S. girls' tennis

• Westbrook defeated shorthanded Old Lyme 7-0 in the Shoreline Conference. The Wildcats were forced to forfeit two of the three doubles matches.

College baseball

• Massasoit Community College scored six runs in the top of the ninth to rally past UConn Avery Point 18-15 at Washington Park. Mike Chiovitti had three hits and two RBI, Justin Keating had three hits and scored three times, Alex Petchark had two hits, including a home run, with three RBI, Brayden Cooney had two hits, two RBI and four runs and Anthony Socci was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

• Geoffrey Stillman hit a grand slam and Johnny Stamatis added a solo home run and scored twice as Trinity downed Mitchell College 9-4. Colby Fortin allowed just one hit and one earned run over six innings with five strikeouts for Trinity (13-10). Kyle Hartenstein had an RBI single and scored for Mitchell (19-5).

College honors

• Coast Guard Academy sophomore Riley McNulty was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in men's lacrosse. McNulty had nine goals and three assists in a pair of wins, including six when the Bears beat rival Merchant Marine for the first time in program history. He has leads Coast Guard in scoring with 55 points.

• Coast Guard senior Raeford Penny was named NEWMAC Athlete of the Week in men's track and field after a first- and second-place finish at Conn College's Silfen Invitational on Saturday. Penny won the 400-meter race and placed second in the 200 for the Bears.

Boston Marathon

• Lee Cole-Chu of Salem completed Monday's 122nd running of the Boston Marathon in 5:48.35. His name was omitted from a list of local finishers that appeared in The Day on Tuesday. He was running to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
