I-Park artists hold open studios Sunday

The public is invited to explore the grounds of I-Park and meet this month’s six resident artists at a free Open Studios event at 2 p.m. today at I-Park, 428 Hopyard Road, East Haddam.

The artists’ retreat is generally closed to visitors to give the resident artists undisturbed time to work on their creative endeavors. But once a month, at the conclusion of each residency, visitors are invited to meet the artists in their studios, attend a presentation featuring some of their work, and stroll the trails winding through I-Park’s scenic, art-filled campus.

Studios will only be open from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and people are advised to arrive early so they have enough time to visit all six studios before the 3:30 p.m. presentation. A reception with refreshments will follow.

May’s resident artists are:

Alexandre Bergeron is a Quebec-based composer and performer whose work has ranged from folk to electronica.

Mitch McCabe is an East Coast filmmaker with over 100 film festivals to her credit.

Eric Sasson is a New York writer for The New Republic and GOOD magazine and author of the forthcoming novel "Admissions."

Eriko Tsogo is a Colorado visual artist who investigates issues of identity and displacement through drawings and animation.

Shelley Wong is a California poet whose work has appeared in the book "Rare Birds" and numerous other publications.

Alisa Yang is a California filmmaker who works in collage both two-dimensionally and in film.

Although admission to Open Studios is free, reservations are requested. To reserve a space, go to i-park.org. For additional information, write events@i-park,org or call (860) 873-2468.
