Second-seeded Finn Power of East Lyme and No. 3 William Michelson of Stonington each won a pair of matches on Thursday to advance to the singles final of the Eastern Connecticut Conference boys' tennis tournament at East Lyme High School.

Power and Michelson will play for the title on Friday at 3 p.m., also at East Lyme, while top-seeded Conard French and Sujesh Kurmbail of East Lyme will play No. 2 Chris Charette and Trevor Hutchins of Ledyard for the doubles championship.

Power beat No. 10 Zach Skrabacz of New London 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before ousting No. 8 Brandon Donovan of Ledyard 7-5, 6-1 in the semifinals. Michelson, meanwhile, knocked off his teammate, No. 9 Sean Bessette, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarters before defeating No. 5 Eric Gu of East Lyme 6-3, 6-3 in the semis.

Earlier in the day Gu came up with the biggest upset of the tournament when he defeated top-seed and previously unbeaten Nate McCracken of Ledyard 6-2, 2-6 and 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-0.

French and Kurumbail cruised to wins over No. 7 Jakob Maranzo-Nick DeAndrea of Ledyard 6-0, 6-1 and No. 8 Andy Trinh-Chris Russo of Fitch 6-0, 6-3, while Charette and Hutchins advanced with wins over No. 5 Patrick Drezeik-Brett Duhaime of Lyman Memorial 6-0, 6-1 and No. 6 Guillem Colom-Jonathan Tan of East Lyme 6-3, 6-3.

    Girls

    • After dominating the regular season, Stonington is doing the exact same thing in the postseason. The Bears swept their way through the competition on Day 3 of the ECC tournament at home, winning all of the singles and doubles semifinals to set up all-Stonington finals on Friday at 3 p.m.

Junior Gabby Dellacono, the two-time defending singles champion, did not lose a game in ousting No. 9 Anna Slopak of Norwich Free Academy in the quarterfinals and No. 5 Sophie Wang of Waterford in the semifinals.

Dellacano, the top-seed, will meet teammate Charlotte Johnstone, the No. 2 seed, in rematch of last year's final. Johnstone ousted No. 7 Shauna Kim of East Lyme 6-0, 6-0 in the quarters before defeating No. 3 Clara Siegmund of Woodstock Academy 6-3, 6-3 in the semis.

In doubles, Stonington's top-seeded team of Margot Goodman and Ainsley Johnstone defeated No. 5 Erin Peterec-Neha Ande of East Lyme 6-2, 6-0 in the semis and will face teammates Phoebe Townsend and Brie Fratoni-Jaskiewicz for the title. The second-seeded Bears' team eliminated No. 3 Mackenzie Eaton-Codi Staveski of Woodstock 6-1, 6-2 in the semis.
