Waterford resident attending NASA college camp

Waterford resident George Simones of Three Rivers Community College has been selected to travel to NASA’s Langley Research Center this summer to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars onsite experience.

Simones, who majored in graphic design, will be one of 280 community college students from across the United States to have the opportunity to interact with NASA engineers and others as they learn more about careers in science and engineering.

“I found out about this program through a previous aerospace scholar that I used to work with, Simones said. “After graduating from Three Rivers Community College on the 23rd of May, I can say with certainty that this is the greatest graduation present I could’ve been given, and I earned it on my own!”

The onsite experience at NASA includes briefings by NASA subject matter experts, information on how to apply for internships and a tour of NASA’s facilities.
