Criss Angel's Mindfreak stage show returns to Foxwoods

    Criss Angel (Willy Sanjuan, Invision/AP)

We all know Criss Angel as the guy who performs unlikely and shocking illusions, whether on TV or as part of a live spectacle. He is probably best remembered for seemingly walking on water, submerging himself in a water tank for 24 hours, or resurrecting a dead person. As a resident magician at Foxwoods, he has completed a Harry Houdini Death Escape while hanging 75 feet upside down in the air from its Fox Tower. And as part of his resident status at the casino, Angel regularly performs his Las Vegas show, “Mindfreak Live! Starring Criss Angel," on the Foxwoods stage.

He’ll be returning to the casino Wednesday for another run of that production. And, considering that Angel is coming back so soon after his last visit in November, we can imagine that this act will probably do just as well, garnering fans from around New England. What they’ll see could include anything from Angel cutting himself in half to levitating over the stage. LED virtual worlds, pyrotechnics, fire walls, and explosions won’t be left out either. You’ll be getting a sort of Crique du Soleil crossed with all of Angel’s newest illusions.

    “Mindfreak Live! Starring Criss Angel,” June 27-July 1; 7:30 p.m. Wed.-Thurs., 7 and 10 p.m. Fri., 2 and 8 p.m. Sat., 2 and 7 p.m. Sun., Foxwoods’ Fox Theater; $49-$99; 1-800-200-2882.
