    Preston Community Fund seeks applicants

Preston — The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut is accepting proposals for the Preston Community Fund, which support arts, cultural and social needs of residents and local organizations.

For the application and guidelines, visit bit.ly/PrestonFund.

The fund was established in 1991 with money given by the former American Ref-Fuel Company of Southeastern Connecticut, which then operated the Preston regional trash incinerator, to help support the varied nonprofit and civic organizations in town.

An advisory committee initially governed the fund but, in 2015, the advisory committee voted to transfer the fund to the Community Foundation and retain its role as advisers in making annual grants to benefit Preston residents.

Proposals must be submitted online by Sept. 28.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
