The Jim Calhoun Charity All-Star game, otherwise known as the UConn basketball family reunion, will return to the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night.

The event is held every two years.

Former UConn men's and women's basketball players will participate in the coed game, which starts at 7 p.m.

Topping the list of former Huskies is 10-time NBA all-star and two-time NBA champion Ray Allen, who will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 8.

Some other men's players expected to attend include Rudy Gay, Daniel Hamilton, Ryan Boatright, Charlie Villanueva, Niels Giffey, Amida Brimah, Kentan Facey and Hilton Armstrong. Nykesha Sales and Svetlana Abrosimova are just two of the former women's players expected to compete.

Tickets range from $12-25 and can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box Office or go to Ticketmaster.com.

Proceeds will benefit The Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at UConn Health in Farmington. More than $8 million dollars has been raised from the Mohegan Sun/Jim Calhoun Celebrity Classic since 1999.

Tigers fall

• The Connecticut Tigers were held to three hits in a 2-0 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones. Isrrael De La Cruz doubled for the Tigers (23-26). The Cyclones also beat the Tigers 13-6 on Wednesday night. Nick Ames homered for the Tigers.

Four members of the Tigers were named to the New York-Penn League All-Star team and will compete for the North Team that will face the South Team on Aug. 14 at Lubrano Park in State College, Pa.

Right-hander starting pitcher Jose Vasquez, relievers Drew Crosby and Yaya Chentouf and outfielder Eric De La Rosa were named to the team, all receiving their first all-star nod.

Vasquez has an earned run average of 1.94 in 41.2 innings this season, good for third-best in the league. Crosby, a lefty, has made 16 appearance out of the bullpen and has a league-best six holds, but was promoted to West Michigan in the Class A Midwest League on Wednesday and will not participate in the All-Star Game. Chentouf, a righty in his first professional assignment, is 8-for-8 in save opportunities.

De La Rosa was selected by the Tigers in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. A switch-hitter out of Grossmont Junior College in California, he made his debut with Connecticut on July 5 and went 4-for-4 with two RBI in a home win against Lowell. He has a .356 on-base percentage and is 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
