New London — Hours after issuing a public appeal for help locating a suspect wanted in a May body-dumping incident, city police reported Wednesday afternoon that East Lyme police had found the woman in a local motel.

Gabrielle Fox, 38, whose last known address was 14 Ledge Road, New London, was charged with removal of a deceased person, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, as well as two previous counts of failure to appear in court. She was being held at the New London Police Department on bonds totaling $13,500 and was to be presented Thursday in New London Superior Court.

Police say Fox and two others were involved in dumping the body of a dead man in a parking lot on the former Edgerton School property. The body, discovered May 7, later was identified as that of Lebro Mei, 36, who died following a drug overdose.

One of the suspects was arrested last week, and another, jailed on unrelated charges, will be arrested Sept. 5 at his next scheduled court date in New London, police said.

William Dietz, 51, of 311 Jefferson Ave., New London, was charged Aug. 14 with removal of a deceased person, first-degree reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence. William Garrett, 54, incarcerated at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Uncasville, will be charged with removal of a body of a deceased person, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.

“The suspects without regard dropped Lebro Mei’s body in the lot of 120 Cedar Grove Ave. (Elm Street side) after he overdosed and suffered medical complications,” police said. “All three suspects were actively involved in the incident. Arrest warrants for all three suspects were obtained by NLPD detectives.”
