Organizers of Ledyard’s annual agricultural fair told the world last year they weren’t sure if another year of fair-going would be possible. Their budget was in the red, and attendance levels over previous years were lower than average. In an effort to keep the fair alive, though, headlining performances were skipped, and a call for Ledyard residents to show up were sent. It seems that, considering that the town will be celebrating its 73rd fair this weekend, the call was heard loud and clear.

But before we list all the fun to be had, we want to just say that next year’s event will again bank on this year’s turnout. So show up to support this great event yet again.

As with any agricultural fair, you can expect the regular gamut of fair-going activities. Lawn mower races. Pageants. A goat obstacle show. Oxen, horse and tractor pulls. Pie-eating contests. Baking contests. Canning contests. Even a horseshoe tournament. Customary carnival rides will be running, as well as stage entertainment which will include the local Jay Dempsey Band and a Bon Jovi tribute band, Bon Jersey. Now go have fun.
