I would like to recognize the City of New London for the recent improvements at Riverside Park. To date, these improvements have consisted of some new sidewalks, a new pavilion, and the resurfacing of the basketball court.

However, the biggest improvement to date has been tree clearing that has taken place in the lower section of the park. This site clearing has opened the view to a wide panorama of the Thames River and has made a big difference in the attractiveness of the park. For those people who have not yet seen it, a trip to the park would be worthwhile.

I hope the city will continue its improvements to the park, as Riverside Park is a "jewel." I also hope these improvements will serve as a catalyst for other improvements within the First District.
