Manufacturing Alliance announces 5th annual video competition for students

The Eastern Advanced Manufacturing Alliance has announced its 5th annual video competition, a project to connect local high school students with local manufacturers.

According to a press release from EAMA, teams are now being formed in New London, Windham and Middlesex counties to tackle the theme, "What's so cool about manufacturing?"

For the competition, teams of students from various disciplines at each participating high school each make a video – up to three minutes long – about an area manufacturing company.

Participating high schools have included Ella T. Grasso Technical High School, Norwich Free Academy and Old Saybrook High School, while companies have included Freeport McMoran, Collins & Jewell and Ivory Ella.

Completed videos will be posted on the EAMA website, manufacturer's website and YouTube, and viewers can vote for their favorite.

The competition will culminate in a film festival in May at Three Rivers Community College, in which the videos will be judged and cash prizes will be awarded.
