    Route 2 reopened after Preston crash involving two cars, school bus

    Preston — No students were injured and two adults were taken to the hospital with minor injuries in a crash on Route 2 in Preston Wednesday afternoon involving a Preston school bus and two other vehicles, police and fire officials said.

    State police said Wednesday evening that no children were injured in the accident. Preston Fire Chief Tom Casey said about nine high school students were in the bus at the time. The bus driver and a driver in one of the other vehicles were transported to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich with minor injuries, Casey said.

    Preston Superintendent Roy Seitsinger said later Wednesday night that the bus driver had been transported as a precaution and was OK.

    Identities and information on how the crash occurred were not available Wednesday evening. A portion of Route 2 in the vicinity of 198 Route 2 in Preston was closed for a time Wednesday afternoon as emergency crews responded.
