    H.S. roundup: Waterford tops East Lyme in field hockey

    Waterford — Waterford scored twice in a four-minute span and handed East Lyme its first Eastern Connecticut Conference loss of the season, beating the Vikings 2-1 in field hockey on Saturday.

    Devyn Concascia scored on as penalty corner with 48 seconds left in the first half and Cassidy Susi added a goal three minutes into the second half. Regan Mazzulli assisted on Concascia's goal and Nini Yangga made 15 saves for Waterford (5-5, 5-3).

    Lilly Moffett scored in the final minute of the game for East Lyme (8-3, 7-1) and teammate Lydia Swan made 10 saves.

    Girls soccer 

    • Olivia Meehan converted a cross from Alexis Delucia in the second sudden death overtime to lift Montville to a 3-2 victory over Waterford. Meehan also scored Montville's first goal when she headed in a Delucia corner, and assisted on the second goal by Alexis Meehan following a another corner by Delucia. Claudia Blazquez and Khaylin Hatcher scored for the Lancers (5-6) with Ciana Chiappone adding an assist and goalie Mya Rheaume stopping five shots. Goalie Lauren Ross made six saves for the Indians (10-3).

    • Old Lyme lost to Woodstock Academy in a nonleague game, 1-0. Ivy Gelhaus scored off a corner kick from Emma Redfield with 5:27 left in the game for Woodstock (9-0-2). Sam Gray made six saves for Old Lyme (5-3-3).

    • East Lyme fell to Masuk in a nonleague game, 8-1. Freshman Caitlin White scored for East Lyme (3-8-1) and teammate Avery Owen made 16 saves.

    • Stonington lost to Bacon Academy, 3-1. Jessica Detwiler scored the goal for Stonington (8-3-1).

    Boys soccer

    • East Lyme avenged an early-season loss with a 2-0 win over Fitch in an ECC Division I game. Alec Kosinski scored on a direct kick in the first half and Matt Kung had a second-half goal for East Lyme (10-3, 2-3), which lost to Fitch (6-7-1, 2-3) 1-0 on Sept. 17. East Lyme's Sunny Lall and Fitch's Ramiro Zavala had nine saves each.
