UConn men to play two-game series with Florida

UConn and Florida, two men's basketball programs that met in the 2014 NCAA national semifinals, have agreed to play a home and home series.

The first meeting will take place next season on Sunday, Nov. 17, at either Gampel Pavilion in Storrs or the XL Center in Hartford. The Huskies will travel to Gainesville, Fla., during the 2020-21 season and play at the Exactech Arena. The date has yet to be determined.

UConn holds a 3-1 lead in the series, including winning a memorable meeting on April 5, 2014 in the national semifinals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Huskies knocked off the No. 1 ranked Gators, 63-53, and went on to beat Kentucky for the program's fourth national title. Florida had won 30 straight games.

In the last meeting in January 2015, UConn posted a 63-59 victory in Gainesville.

Shabazz Napier's dramatic buzzer-beating shot lifted the Huskies to a 65-64 win in a regular-season battle between two ranked teams in 2013 at Gampel Pavilion.

Florida's only win against UConn came in the 1994 NCAA tournament Sweet 16 in Miami, Fla. The Gators earned a 69-60 overtime victory and went on to reach the Final Four.
