North Stonington Fair returns this weekend
And so it begins.
We’re talking about agricultural fair season, and it always kicks off around here with the North Stonington Fair, which runs Thursday through Sunday.
While there are new features (goat yoga and races starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday), the fair also offers all those elements that have attracted fans for more than five decades.
That means farm-related competitions like the horse show and oxen pull on Saturday, along with all sorts of other contests. Pie-eating, anyone? Belly up to the table at noon Saturday. Want to throw stuff? Join the baled hay toss at 9 p.m. Friday.
The fair also has its own entertainment and events, including carnival rides, magicians, karaoke, and the Fair Princess/Queen contests at 7 p.m. Thursday.
North Stonington Fair, 5-11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Fairgrounds, 21 Wyassup Road, North Stonington; $10, free for kids under 12, $5 for seniors on Saturday only; (860) 535-3956, www.northstoningtonfair.org.
