Mystic Seaport to host Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous July 27-28
Mystic -- Mystic Seaport Museum will hold its annual Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous on July 27-28.
The event features cruisers, sailboats and runabouts which will be displayed along the museum waterfront. Visitors can view the vessels Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An awards competition will recognize excellence in restoration, authenticity and workmanship.
This year the museum will honor vessels designed by the Elco company which produced 399 PT boats for World War II. This year's feature vessel will be Valentine, hull number 1 of the 50-foot Cruisette model buit in 1929. The boat is homeported in Essex.
The event will conclude Sunday at noon with a parade of boats down the Mystic River. Each will be announced at Mystic River Park as they pass through the drawbridge. More information and tickets are available at www.mysticseaport.org/event/antique-classic-boat-rendezvous/.
