Amos Lee, Bruce Hornsby share Thursday bill at Foxwoods

    Amos Lee (Amy Harris, Invision/AP)

If a consulting firm was hired to come up with the ideal musical tour to represent NPR's listener demographics, a package with Amos Lee and Bruce Hornsby would be hard to beat.

Both artists are exemplary players whose respective songs are refined, sophisticated, thoughtfully appealing — and sound perfect alongside flickering Yankee Candle votives. Yes, Hornsby did have that stint in the Grateful Dead, but membership in that organization is, by now, almost like joining AARP.

Honsby's latest recording, with his band the Noisemakers, is called "Absolute Zero," while Lee's new CD is "My New Moon." Both are stuffed with pleasant and well-crafted tunes that should appeal in big fashion to their collective audience when they perform on the same bill Thursday at Foxwoods. See this show — and avoid having to listen to the pledge drive.

Amos Lee and Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $25-$45; 1-800-200-2882.
