    Foxwoods welcomes 'Weird Al' Yankovic

"Weird Al" Yankovic (Rich Fury, Invision/AP)

“Weird Al” Yankovic has his share of unexpected fans.

Two examples: John Homme and Dave Grohl.

Grohl was recently on Homme’s Apple Music Beats 1 show titled “The Alligator Hour,” and they covered a wide range of subject. Including “Weird Al.”

Homme said Al was “the nicest guy of all time.” And Grohl said, “I saw him at the Paramount Theater in Seattle in 1994, and I'm not kidding. It was one of the loudest shows I've ever been to. It was like Motörhead loud.”

    It’s Dave Grohl saying that!

We don’t think that same volume thing will hold true when Yankovic plays Foxwoods on Friday, since he’s on his Strings Attached Tour, in which he’ll perform with his band, background singers — and a full symphony orchestra.

What you can anticipate is for this to be a characteristically comic affair. Yankovic has a long list of parodies he’s done over the years, from his turning Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” into “Eat It” to his reimagining Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” as “Word Crimes,” so expect to chortle.

“Weird Al” Yankovic, 8 p.m. Friday, Foxwoods’ Grand Theater; $45-$75; 1-800-200-2882.
