    The U.S. Navy Virginia-class attack submarine USS Washington (SSN 787) was transiting the Thames River on Friday while inbound to the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.

    The USS Washington, commissioned in October 2017, is the 14th vessel in the Virginia class and is home-ported at Naval Station Norfolk.
