Mary Bridget Davies earned rave reviews and a Tony nomination — no easy feat — for her performance in “A Night with Janis Joplin” on Broadway in 2013-14.

And now she and the show are coming to the Garde Arts Center for a Friday performance.

This is a musical, not a tribute show, and it celebrates Joplin and her muses, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simon, Bessie Smith, and Odetta. (It was written and directed by Randy Johnson.)

Davies clearly has a voice and a fiery stage presence that recall the great Joplin. In addition to “A Night with Janis Joplin,” she starred in “Love, Janis” and toured with Joplin’s original band, Big Brother and the Holding Company.
