Republicans defend Trump, not the U.S. Constitution
When the president of the United States clearly violates the Constitution and Republicans in Congress do all in their power to defend his behavior, rational thought appears to be thrown out the window. Are the Republicans stupid? Absolutely not. The only conclusion is that they have allegiance to power made possible by subservience to President Donald Trump, rather than allegiance to the Constitution. By exonerating Trump of impeachable behavior, the Republicans will be complicit in the potential destruction of our democracy.
